A while ago, I was talking to a Chinese person on Skype who spoke fluent Japanese. My internet connection was bad, and I said, “Sorry, my internet is bad, gomen na China which is the same pronounciation as sorry in Japanese,” but the person completely ignored me. I wrote about it before. This time, I will tell a story about how I made an Indian angry.

Before I went to Australia to pursue my MBA, I attended an English language school for 15 weeks. The postgraduate school I was aiming for required a high level of English proficiency, about 1st level, so I decided to study English for 15 weeks. By the way, the language school’s postgraduate course also required about semi 1st level.

In the school, there is a lot of Asian students. We talked about greeting. Most of Asian people know “konnichiwa” or “Hello” and “Sayonara” or “Goodbye”.

I taught them about a Japanese greeting that is even more friendly and includes a personal touch, “chinchin burabura,” which means “wiggle of penis.” My Asian friends were very grateful because they didn’t know about it.

A few days later, the Indian person I had talked to got angry and came to me. It turned out that he had tried using “chinchin burabura” with some Japanese friends.

The picture below shows my friends at the English language school. By the way, the girl in the front row came to Japan to visit about three or four years ago, and we met again for the first time in a while. The boy on the left is from India, and the tall man is always busy, so we don’t get to meet often, but we occasionally exchange emails.
