今日は鍋の日だそうです。
Today is Nabe Day. Nabe is one of Japanese traditional foods.
鍋は良いですね。最近、白菜が売られているのをよく見ますので、そろそろ鍋をやりたいと思う事があります。
Nabe is great. Lately, I’ve been seeing Chinese cabbages being sold frequently, so it makes me want to have nabe soon.
私は、白菜、キャベツ、レタスの見た目の区別はつきますが、以前まで用途の区別があまりついていませんでした。とくにレタスの用途はいまいちよく分かっていませんでした。
I can visually distinguish Chinese cabbage, cabbage, and lettuce, but I didn’t know their specific uses until recently. Especially with lettuce, I wasn’t quite sure how it was commonly used.
今でも若干あやふやな部分があります。キャベツは色々な物に料理に使われますが、レタスはサラダ、タコライス、時々チャーハンやサンドイッチくらいで他に使われ方が思いつきません。白菜など鍋とお新香以外にどこに使われているのか全く分かりません。
Even now, there are still some vague parts. Cabbage is used in various dishes, but lettuce is mainly used for salads, taco rice, and occasionally fried rice or sandwiches. I can’t think of many other uses for lettuce. As for Chinese cabbage, I have no idea where else it’s used besides in nabe and oshinko (pickled Chinese cabbage).
きっと、知らない間に色々な野菜も取っているのだろうと思います。鍋は本当に色々な野菜を同時に取れるので良いですね。温まるし。誰でも出来る簡単料理だし。
I’m sure there are various vegetables that are used without my knowledge. Nabe is great because it allows you to cook a variety of vegetables together. It warms you up, and it’s an easy dish that anyone can make.
正直いうと、お鍋専門店は別として、鍋なんて料理でもなんでもないと思う。でも、本当に美味しい。結局、頑張って作ろうが、手抜きで作ろうが美味しいものの方が満足度が高いし、人に好まれるってことだね。お鍋を見るとマーケティングを思い浮かべるって私だけかな？
To be honest, I don’t think nabe is a special dish, aside from specialized nabe restaurants. But it’s truly delicious. In the end, whether you put in a lot of effort or take shortcuts, the satisfaction and preference lie in the taste. Am I the only one who associates nabe with marketing when I see it?
