私は現在までに海外4カ国に住み、英語を使って仕事と生活をしてきた経験があります。
I have lived in four different countries abroad and have had experiences using English in both work and daily life.
ただ、高校は東京でも底辺の本当に頭の悪い工業高校に行っていました。
However, I attended a really low-level, academically poor industrial high school in Tokyo.
何十年も前ですが、萩原聖人さんが主演をしていた不良ドラマのモデル校が私の出身校でした。

私が何気なく、なんでうちの高校には英語の授業がないんだろうと先生に聞きました。
I casually asked a teacher why our school didn’t have English classes.

だから、英語の変わりに機械の授業があるという返事でした。

確かに、大学に行く人間は年間で1人か2人のような高校でした。

ただ、私は爺さんのすすめにより高校卒業後に、なぜか大学受験を目指してしまったのですが、

and eventually, I collapsed.
ただ、私が行った大学は安倍元首相と同じ大学です。それなりにレベルの高い大学だと思います。
However, the university I attended is the same university where former Prime Minister Abe studied. I consider it a reasonably prestigious university.
私が学生時代に真面目に英語の勉強をしたのは、大学受験の1年間だけです。
During my student days, I seriously studied English for just one year,
中学時代も全く勉強しませんでしたし、高校には英語の授業がありませんでした。
and I didn’t study at all during junior high school. In high school, we didn’t even have English classes.
そこから10年以上経ち、34歳の時に英語の勉強を始めました。
Over a decade later, at the age of 34, I began studying English.
その1年後にオーストラリアに渡り、大学院を出てMBAを取得しました。
A year later, I moved to Australia and completed my postgraduate studies, earning an MBA.

先日、アフリカの経済会議に国代表で出席して、次期大臣と言われているようです。

他にも大きな会社を経営している同級生も何人かいます。
There are a few more classmates who run big companies.
海外の大学院まで出て、私のような体たらくはあまりいません。
Some of them even pursued further education abroad, and they are doing quite well, unlike my struggling journey.
ただ、私も大学院を卒業した後に、タイに渡りFujitsuでITコンサルタントとして働きました。
After graduating from graduate school, I also moved to Thailand and worked as an IT consultant at Fujitsu.
昨年まで、マレーシアでは、シンガポールの上場企業でGoogle関連の仕事をしていました。
Until last year, I was working for a Google-related position at a Singapore-listed company in Malaysia.
全く自慢ではないです。今でも、まだまだ借金を返しているだけのプー太郎の身です。

また、英語以外にもフランス語も話します。過去には中国語とタイ語も少し話せました。

いくつになってからでも、外国語は身につけることが出来ます。

多国語を話せる人がすごいと言われることがありますが、英語など１つ外国語を話せれば
People may say it’s impressive to speak multiple languages, but once you know how to learn one,
他の言葉を話せるようになるのは簡単です。
picking up others becomes easier.
これは外国語を話せるようになる流れや勉強方法を知っているからです。
This is because you understand the flow and study methods to become proficient in a foreign language.
ですので、最初の言語が一番大変ですが、後はどんどん簡単になっていくんです。
The initial language is usually the most challenging, but it gets easier from there.
