私は現在もオーストラリア時代の大学院の同級生と数人ですがネットで連絡を取り合っています。だいたい10人くらいいるのかもしれませんが、残念ながらオーストラリア人は一人もいません。
I am currently in contact with several classmates from my graduate school days in Australia through the internet. There are probably about 10 of them, but unfortunately, none of them are Australian.
だいたいがアジアの友達です。ただ、一年近く一緒に家をシェアをしていたアフリカ人の友達もいます。彼は本当に優秀な人でした。ちなみに、性格も世界一良いと思っています。
Most of my friends are from Asia. However, I also have an African friend whom I shared a house with for about a year. He was truly talented, and I consider him to be the kindest person in the world.
彼は、現在自分の国に戻って経済学を大学で教えています。約5年くらい前には彼はその隣の国で経済学を教えており、そこに私を招待してくれました。本当に綺麗な国でした。そして相変わらず、彼ら夫婦は親切でした。
He has returned to his home country and is now teaching economics at a university. He taught economics in a neighboring country about five years ago and invited me to visit. It was a truly beautiful country, and he and his wife were as kind as ever.
私が着ているTシャツの柄は、この国の国旗です。
The pattern on the T-shirt I’m wearing is the flag of that country.
彼女も私と一緒に家をシェアしていました。

彼とはフェイスブックでつながっているのですが、彼の友達や生徒などが頻繁に彼が経済学の先生として紹介されている雑誌をアップしています。
Although I’m connected with him on Facebook, I don’t understand the contents of the magazines he’s frequently featured in as an economics teacher.
私はその現地の言葉が分からないので雑誌の内容は分かりませんが、フェイスブックのコメントなどではあなたが次の経済相の大臣だと半分冗談か分からないコメントが載っています。
However, I’ve seen comments on Facebook suggesting that he could be the next Minister of Economics, although it’s unclear if they’re meant as jokes or not.
本当に凄いなって思います。
I’m truly amazed.
また、他のアジアの知人なども多くが自分で事業を起こしています。かなり大きな事業を展開している友達もいます。
Furthermore, many of my acquaintances from other Asian countries have started their own businesses. Some of them have even established large enterprises.
他の国まで行って大学院でMBAやMPAを取得しようとする人間ですから、それなりに野心が強いのだとは思います。
As individuals who traveled to other countries to obtain an MBA or MPA, they must have strong ambitions.
私もそれなりに野心は強い方だとは思うのですが、私はMBAを取得してからもずっと貧乏生活でもがいている感じです。
I believe I also have a strong ambition, but I’ve been struggling financially since obtaining my MBA.
ちなみに、オーストラリアでの学費も生活費も全て自分で払いました。その前に自分で事業をしていてその時は多少稼いでいたので払えました。
By the way, I paid for all my tuition fees and living expenses in Australia. Before that, I had my own business and was able to afford them.
そろそろ、這い上がりたいなと思っています。
I’m starting to feel like I want to turn things around. First and foremost, I want to achieve a stable lifestyle.
それか、アフリカ人の友達が大臣になって、アフリカに呼んでくれないかな？なんて思ったりして。あんな性格も頭も良い奴と一緒に働けるなら、何でもしたいと思う。私は現在までに4ヶ国で住んで１８ヶ国に行っているので、世界中のどこにいても生きていけるとは思っています。
Alternatively, I sometimes think, “What if my African friend becomes a minister and invites me to Africa?” If I can work with someone who has such a great personality and intellect, I would be willing to do anything. I have lived in four countries and visited 18 countries so far, so I believe I can survive anywhere in the world.
私も彼の国の公用語の英語もフランス語も話せるし、アジアの経済についての知識もそれなりにあるつもりです。きっと日経新聞の記者よりはまともな経済の知識と常識を持っていると思う。
I can also speak English and some French, which are the official languages of his country, and I believe I have a decent understanding of Asian economies. I think I have a better understanding and knowledge of economics than a journalist from the Nikkei newspaper.
そして、もちろん冗談です。私は私の目標に向かって少しずつ前向きに頑張っていこう！まだ日本での成功を諦めません！
And of course, that was just a joke. I will continue to work towards my goals little by little and stay positive. I haven’t given up on achieving success in Japan yet!
