I will introduce shrimp toast that I made when I lived in Thailand. Honestly, I didn’t know that shrimp toast was a Thai dish. Without knowing that, I wanted to eat shrimp toast, so I looked up the recipe and thought that the ingredients would be easily available.
However, I couldn’t find a spice called “three spices” in the supermarket, so I made it using only ingredients that are available in Japan. Honestly, it turned out to be incredibly delicious. Here is the recipe:
First, buy shrimp and remove all the shells. Since I couldn’t find “three spices,” I used garlic, salt, and pepper for seasoning.

Next, finely chop the shrimp and then pound it with the back of a knife. I didn’t pound it until it completely lost its shape because I wanted to retain the texture.

Next, mix the minced garlic, ground pork, and egg white with the shrimp, and season it with salt and pepper. Mix them evenly by hand.

Then, place the mixture on the crustless bread. It seems that putting more in the center enhances the texture.

Fry the bread at high temperature, close to 200 degrees Celsius, so that the bread doesn’t become greasy. By the way, I mistakenly thought that the pork was half-cooked, but in reality, it was the shrimp that turned red, so I cooked them too much.

The picture above shows the finished product. It looks slightly burnt, but it was really delicious. Next time, I want to make it again without burning it. By the way, I used store-bought sweet chili sauce.
