私の趣味の一つは料理です。私は過去10年間で半分が海外に住んでいます。海外で、日本料理を食べようと思うと自分で作る必要がありました。オーストラリアにいた時にもタイにいた時にも多くの日本料理のお店がありましたが、日本料理のお店は高いですし、日本で食べるほど美味しくありません。
One of my hobbies is cooking. I have lived overseas for half of the past 10 years. When I wanted to eat Japanese food abroad, I had to make it myself. Although there were many Japanese restaurants in Australia and Thailand, they were expensive and not as delicious as those in Japan.
そのために、自分で作る事にしていました。台湾でも多くの日本料理のお店がありました。本当に時々お店に行きましたが、やはり高いので頻繁には行けませんでした。
Therefore, I decided to make it myself. There were also many Japanese restaurants in Taiwan. I went to them occasionally, but they were still expensive, so I couldn’t go there frequently.
タイでも台湾でもキッチンのない家が多いです。タイでは屋台がどこにいても多く出ていて、台湾でも夜市で安く美味しいものがお店で食べられますから、あまり家にキッチンが必要ないようです。
In Thailand and Taiwan, many homes do not have kitchens. In Thailand, there are many food street vendors everywhere, and in Taiwan, you can eat cheap and delicious food at night markets, so having a kitchen at home is not essential.
私がタイにいた時には駅から遠くても良いのでキッチンのある家に住みたいと思い、駅から結構離れたキッチンのある家に住んでいました。その家ではもちろん毎日料理をしていました。
When I was in Thailand, I wanted to live in a house with a kitchen, even if it was far from the station, so I lived in a house with a kitchen quite far from the station. I cooked every day in that house, of course.
最初は上のような理由で料理を作っていたのですが、いつか息子に美味しいものを食べさせたいと思うようになりました。そのうちに息子に料理を食べさせる前提で料理を学ぶようになりました。
At first, I cooked for the reasons mentioned above, but eventually, I wanted to feed my son delicious food someday. So I started learning how to cook with the assumption of feeding my son.
自分だけで食べる料理であれば雑でもあまり美味しくなくても良いと思いますが、息子を思いながら料理を学ぶとなるべく美味しいものを作りたいという気持ちに変わってきました。
I think it’s okay if the food I eat alone is mediocre and not very delicious, but my feelings have changed to wanting to make delicious food as much as possible while thinking about my son.
何度か可愛い料理にも挑戦しました。例えば、水玉のオムライスや飛行機の形をかたどったオムライスなどです。黄色の卵の部分を水玉などに切り抜き、その白身だけを流すと水玉のオムライスができます。
I also tried making cute dishes several times, such as polka dot omelets and airplane-shaped omelets. You can cut out the yellow part of the egg into polka dots and just pour the white part to make a polka dot omelet.
その他にも超巨大料理なども色々と挑戦した事もあります。先日すこしだけ息子に料理を作る機会がありました。私が作った料理を美味しいって言ってくれたので本当に嬉しかったです。お世辞でも嬉しかったです。私の息子は天使に違いない。
I have also tried making super-sized dishes and other various challenges. Recently, I had a chance to cook for my son a little bit. I was really happy when he said that the food I made was delicious, even if it was just flattery. My son is an angel, without a doubt.
